I’m going to send a few more Gazettes in the next couple of months, focusing on practical things you, and anyone else, can do to make your life and the whole country a little better, as well as celebrating the good stuff that’s happening right now.
1) Unlikely Hero Department:
“Kansas farmers and grain elevators could be left without a market for last year’s sorghum crop after President Donald Trump dismantled (USAID).” Jason Alatidd, Topeka Capital-Journal).
Republican Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas recently tweeted “GOOD NEWS: State Dept. has approved shipping to resume…this life-saving aid (will get) to those in need before it spoils.” Moran is one of the first Republican lawmakers to do an important part of his job. Congress is supposed to oppose actions by the executive that will hurt their constituents.

2) Elevate your CQ (Citizen Quotient).
Make calls EVERY DAY! We’re counting on folks in DC to hold the line on the Trump/Musk cabal, which means we’re asking them to take serious personal and political risks. They need to know there are millions of folks behind them.
Calling is easy and takes 5 minutes! Goto https://5calls.org/, put in your address and choose a topic. They’ll give you your senators’ and representative’s phone numbers plus a script. Just call and use your script to talk with an aide or leave a message. Then you can take a deep breath and know your CQ is up a few points.
3) Spend time with your communities.
Singing has never been my strong suit – I’m one of the many people who was told by a grade school music teacher that I couldn’t sing and I believed her for decades. A year ago, my friend David Worm convinced me to join the monthly circle sing he leads in Berkeley. Singing as community, not as performance. Soothes my soul.
